Ogishi Craft Centre and Glass Studio

Ogishi Craft Centre is a participant in the"Greening Lovedale Hunter Valley" program.
If we do not act quickly, we may not able to save our planet to pass on to our children and be as good as we have now.
•The basic glass material used in our product is the recycled glass from a large glass company. It uses less energy than using raw material for melting down. It has to be a special formula of glass so we cannot put any other recycled glass, for example bottles, in our furnace.
•6 panels of Solar panels
•Our home and the gallery building are well insulated.
•Switched to energy efficient light globes as much as we can.
•Switch off lights in rooms not in use.
•Use ceiling fans.
•Use small heaters rather than the central heater for whole house.
•Our water tanks collect from our roof and supply almost all the water we need.
•Compost green waste.
•Use shredder paper from our office for packing glass products as much as we can.
•Brown (recycled material) paper bag to be used for carry bags in the gallery.
•Ask customers whether they need carry bag or not, if the items look easy to carry without.
•Try to eat Australian grown vegetables and fruits as much as we can. (We have a special delivery from Maitland.)
•Eat less meat, more vegetables.
•We would like to reduce our energy usage for environment and also for our survival in business. Cost of energy is getting too high for us. We are working on for some changes.
