Lovedale Craftfest - Celebration of Long Love


The 2010 Lovedale Craftfest, will be a showcase of the finest and exclusive original Australian-made craft ever to be showcased at one location in the Hunter Region.

The three-day event is timed to co incide with another high-class social event being hosted in the region - Opera in the Vines, at nearby Wyndham Estate on Saturday October 23.

Co ordinator is well known Hunter Wine Country glass artist Setsuko Ogishi who has been working her craft for 28 years. Setsuko and her life and business partner, Yutaka Mizuno have been producing hand-made glassware and art Glass in Hunter Valley since 1987.

Their gallery has been opened in the purpose-built building behind their studio. The light-filled gallery contains her beautiful work plus jewellery, textiles, painting and leatherwork by other artists.

Setsuko’s long time dream to create and promote a centre for Australian Craft is becoming realty. “The Lovedale Craftfest is a flower of my long love and also a cerebration of our achievement,” she said.

“The proactive community of Lovedale and Hunter Wine Country are behind the event and support the event enormously.

“Our gallery is becoming an important part of Hunter Valley tourism and many visitors spend time browsing in the gallery and we have noticed many return customers. The Gallery exhibits to the public on weekends from 11am-4pm, and other times by appointment.

Setsuko’s glass is appreciated by Australian glass and art lovers, many of whom have been collecting her works for twenty seven years. Setsuko’s creations are unique and exquisite in colour and shape.

The Ogishi Art Glass Studio is one of only a few glassblowing studios in Australia, and is the only one in the Hunter Valley which is open to the public.

“The collection of exclusive works on display at the Lovedale Craftfest will definitely set a benchmark of excellence by leading master artisans,” said Setsuko.

The blend of fine craft and credentialed limited-edition pieces makes a unique gift or personal indulgence.

When combined with wine tastings conducted by neighbouring winery visitors will be encouraged to linger longer.

The event opens Friday night 22nd October by RSVP and runs through from Saturday 23rd 9am – 5pm and Sunday 24th October 9am -4 pm. All craftworks are for sale. Admission is free

and runs through from Saturday 23rd (9am–5pm) to Sunday 24th October (9am–4pm).

All craftworks are for sale. Admission is free.
